Netflix is reportedly developing a live-action TV series based on Atlus' RPG 'Persona' franchise.
On June 29 (local time), the American media outlet Variety exclusively reported that Netflix is developing a live-action series based on the 'Persona' game franchise. However, specific plot details and which entry in the series will serve as the basis for the adaptation have not yet been disclosed. Netflix has not issued an official statement regarding the report.

According to Variety, Christopher Monfette will handle the adaptation. Monfette will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. He previously worked as a writer on series such as '12 Monkeys,' 'Star Trek: Picard,' and '9-1-1,' and is also credited as a writer and co-executive producer for the upcoming 'Vision Quest.
21 Laps and Story Kitchen are also joining the production. From 21 Laps, Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Robert Atwood will serve as executive producers, while Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson will serve as executive producers from Story Kitchen. Toru Nakahara of Sega will also participate as an executive producer.
21 Laps, founded by Shawn Levy, is well known for producing Netflix's flagship series 'Stranger Things.' Story Kitchen is a production company focused on adapting various IPs, including games, for the screen. It is well known for its work on the 'Sonic the Hedgehog' and 'Tomb Raider' series, and is currently pursuing several other game-based adaptation projects, including 'It Takes Two,' 'Just Cause,' 'Life is Strange,' and 'Shinobi.

The 'Persona' series is a popular game franchise representing Atlus. Starting with 'Revelations: Persona,' a spin-off of the 'Shin Megami Tensei' series released in 1996, all entries in the series, including main titles and spin-offs, have enjoyed immense global popularity. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the franchise is hosting various events and collaborations, and has also shared news regarding the new 'Persona 4 Revival' and 'Persona 6.
Atlus is scheduled to release 'Persona 4 Revival,' a remake based on 'Persona 4 Golden,' on February 18, 2027. 'Persona 4 Revival' features a modern reconstruction of all elements, including visuals, UI, combat, and events. The next main numbered entry, 'Persona 6,' is also in development. 'Persona 6' was officially announced during SGF in June, though a specific release date has not yet been disclosed.
