At GTC Taipei, NVIDIA unveiled 'RTX Spark,' its new superchip designed for Windows PCs. The chip targets slim laptops and compact desktop PCs, aiming to serve a broad range of users from gamers and creators to AI developers.

For gamers, the most notable aspect is performance. NVIDIA stated that the chip enables gaming at 1440p resolution and over 100 FPS with ray tracing and DLSS enabled, while also supporting G-SYNC and Reflex to eliminate screen tearing and input lag. A key feature is that this performance is achieved in a slim form factor as thin as 14mm and weighing approximately 1.36kg, all while maintaining battery life sufficient for all-day use.

The chip architecture combines a Blackwell RTX GPU (6144 CUDA cores, 5th-generation Tensor cores) with a 20-core Grace CPU connected via NVIDIA NVLink-C2C, supporting up to 128GB of unified memory. MediaTek collaborated on the CPU design.

The chip's capabilities outside of gaming are also noteworthy. NVIDIA is partnering with Adobe to optimize Photoshop and Premiere for RTX Spark, aiming to boost AI performance and graphics processing speeds by up to two times. It also supports running 120-billion-parameter LLMs locally and rendering large 3D scenes exceeding 90GB. Through a partnership with Microsoft, it also provides an environment for running on-device AI agents.

Partnerships with game companies are also significant. KRAFTON, Riot Games, NetEase, Remedy Entertainment, and Xbox are participating as RTX Spark platform partners. NetEase stated that its titles, such as 'NARAKA: BLADEPOINT,' can now provide experiences that align with the developers' original intent on ultra-slim, high-performance laptops equipped with RTX Spark, while Xbox mentioned plans to expand access to Xbox games on RTX Spark devices. Currently, over 1k games and applications support RTX technology.

Laptops (14–16 inches) and compact desktops featuring RTX Spark are scheduled for release this fall through ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft Surface, and MSI, with models from Acer and GIGABYTE to follow.

Pricing and detailed specifications have not yet been disclosed. Further information regarding RTX Spark will be available during the Microsoft Build keynote, which will be held on June 2–3.
