I remember it was around June of last year. As usual, while searching for game news on X (formerly Twitter), I came across leaked information about the next 'Call of Duty'. At first, I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought the leaker had made a typo or that it wasn't Korean. To think the title of the next Call of Duty was 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Inc.' The leaked sequence was even harder to believe. To think that Task Force 141 and the South Korean military would cooperate to engage in combat with North Korean forces.
The desire for Call of Duty to cover the 'Korean War' has been an annual event, both domestically and internationally. However, each time, a different battlefield was revealed, or it would pass by as a short single mission like in Advanced Warfare, often leading to resignation with the thought, "I knew it." And I expected it to be the same this time. Campaign - This Time It's Real, The Second Korean War Breaks Out! But this time it was real. Modern Warfare takes place in a fictional Korea where the Second Korean War has broken out. Powerfully supported by a new leadership, North Korean forces bomb the South Korean capital, Seoul, plunging it into instant chaos. This is the moment when the dreams of many Korean Call of Duty fans have come true. Regarding the decision to set the game in South Korea, Infinity Ward co-presidents Jack O'Hara and Mark Grigsby stated, "We wanted to revamp the Modern Warfare title, and to do so, we wanted to choose a battlefield that had not been visited before. In that regard, Korea was the most suitable stage." They also added that architectural styles not previously seen in the game, the rise of K-culture, and Korea's geopolitical location in confrontation with North Korea were intriguing points. The development team put great effort into depicting Korea realistically, rather than simply using it as a setting. In fact, the Korean military equipment, convenience stores, and street scenes appearing in the trailer feel quite familiar to Korean gamers. Of course, true to the 'Modern Warfare' series which takes place on a global stage, the game is not limited to Korea alone. As various parts of the world, including Russia, New York, Paris, and Mumbai, are endangered by the Axis of Evil, Task Force 141, led by our eternal Captain Price, traverses these global stages to confront the threats.
The development team explained that they intended to highlight the exploits of ordinary soldiers rather than war heroes through the Korean military, and that these soldiers will be treated with just as much importance as Task Force 141 in this title. In addition, scenes of Valeria and Price, who appeared as the leaders of the Mexican cartel in Modern Warfare 2 (2022), cooperating, and Ghost and Price confronting each other were revealed in the trailer, raising fans' expectations to the fullest. Multiplayer - More immersive, fixed inconveniences. King Crab Land naturally steals the spotlight ©Activision & Infinity Ward In the case of multiplayer, it was confirmed that they aimed to increase immersion and completely fix inconveniences. There were significant changes in terms of movement and combat. Regarding movement, the goal was to ensure that transitions over obstacles were as smooth as possible and to minimize the feeling of catching. Additionally, weapon manipulation in a mantle state known as 'Ledge Shimmy' and long-distance sliding utilizing the back, known as 'Supine Slide,' were added. In terms of combat, the developers emphasized the removal of 'Bloom,' a common complaint in other FPS games. Bloom refers to the mechanics where shots spread out due to the game system even after being fired at the intended target; the development team explained that they replaced this with a different system so that bullets travel exactly where the player aimed, thereby establishing a smooth gunplay experience. In addition, VFX such as muzzle smoke have been adjusted so they do not interfere with combat, and the 'Depth of Field' option—which many FPS gamers disable because they feel it disadvantages aiming down sights—has also been adjusted to allow for better identification of enemies even when aiming down sights. Furthermore, unlike the previous game where the weapon's position remained the same even when pressed against a wall, this title allows for fine-tuning the weapon's orientation based on how it is pressed against the wall, enabling more realistic cover and entry. Weapon customization still exists, and special attachments called 'Apex Attachments' have been introduced. Similar to the conversion kits from the previous game, they provide additional playstyles for weapons. In this game, the ORIS 8.6 sniper rifle is equipped with a quick-detachment throwing knife, the SANG 9mm pistol is equipped with an underbarrel shotgun using 12-gauge ammunition, and the ISO Nightshade works in a way that attaches a Smart Tracker so that if special ammunition is fired at an enemy, the enemy's location is exposed to the tracker.

For weapons and equipment, 24 primary weapons, 9 secondary and melee weapons, 28 Apex attachments, 500 standard attachments, 17 killstreaks, 11 special abilities, 11 lethal gear and 9 tactical gear, and 18 perks will be available at launch.
For modes, in addition to existing popular modes, 'Combat Outpost' and 'Frontal Assault' modes will be newly introduced for users interested in large-scale battles. It has been confirmed that a total of 12 maps will be available at launch, with South Korea, North Korea, Russia, and Mumbai featured in the campaign serving as battlefield settings. Furthermore, the development team hinted that they have added a new "Kill Block," a dynamically changing map, rather than settling for the basic map structure. Inspired by stadiums whose structures change according to events, the map layout changes with every match. This allows players to have a unique experience every time they play on a single map. In addition, the "Prestige System," which allows players to reset levels and receive rewards, has been divided into two paths, giving users a choice. If you choose the Classic Prestige track, you will receive additional rewards in exchange for resetting all previously unlocked equipment as before; if you choose the Regular track, you will receive fewer rewards but can advance to the next level chapter while retaining your unlocked items.
Call of Duty’s Extraction Shooter, DMZ is Back!

As per community opinion - End of support for old generations, Switch 2 release, provision of various QoL

Finally, Infinity Ward promised to incorporate feedback from the community and make changes in this title. Notably, support for older generation consoles has ended, and they explained that features frequently discussed in the community, such as "playing the campaign offline" and "removing the restart system after updates," are currently being implemented. In addition, the release on the Nintendo Switch 2 has been confirmed. With this, "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" has become the first title to be featured in the 10-year Call of Duty distribution contract signed between Microsoft and Nintendo. The development team added that the game is currently running smoothly on the Switch and that polishing work is underway to enhance its quality. In addition, they emphasized that they are developing features such as 'Theater Mode,' which allows users to record their gameplay, 'Map Voting,' which allows users to select maps, and 'Red Dots on Minimap,' which displays red dots on the minimap when firing weapons, with the goal of including them in this title. With the attention of domestic and international users focused on whether the first Call of Duty game set primarily in South Korea can succeed, 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Inc.,' developed by Infinity Ward, is scheduled for a simultaneous worldwide release on October 23.
