Nexon (co-CEOs Kang Dae-hyun and Kim Jung-wook) announced on the 17th that it has released a new content update for the looter shooter 'The First Descendant,' developed by its subsidiary Nexon Games (CEO Park Yong-hyun).
First, the new 'Clash Mode' is a defensive mission where players must stop monsters from reaching a target point, utilizing strategic elements such as turrets and barricades. Players can build or upgrade turrets using resources earned through gameplay, such as defeating enemies, and can boost their stats by selecting 'abilities' offered at specific stages. The mission takes place across three zones, each offering a different combat experience, and culminates in a battle against a 'Colossus.' The beta version of 'Clash Mode' will run until April 29, with the official update scheduled for May 21.
In addition, the balance for Descendants 'Viessa' and 'Hailey' has been adjusted. For Viessa, the overall performance of her skills has been improved while maintaining her signature ability to deal heavy damage within a specific area. The 'Glacial Cloud' skill module has been improved to pierce enemies for damage over time and can now be used from a greater distance, while the 'Hypothermia' module has been changed to allow Ice Spikes to stack up to 30 times. Furthermore, four additional skill modules, including 'Cold Snap Watch' and 'Cold-Bloodedness,' have been revamped to be more powerful, offering a fresh gameplay experience. For Hailey, a damage increase based on HP has been added, and the power of her skills, as well as the damage and pull range of 'Storm Snare,' have been increased.
Three Ultimate weapons have also been rebalanced. The sniper rifle 'Piercing Light' has been reworked into a multi-hit weapon that deals additional piercing damage upon impact. Its unique ability, 'Purification of Light,' has been changed so that hitting a 'Mark of Light'—generated when hitting an enemy—triggers a 'Chain Explosion' that deals area-of-effect damage to enemies behind the target. The explosive launchers 'Sigvore's Proof' and 'Exterminator' have had their DPS (damage per second) increased to improve combat efficiency.
Two new 'Trigger Modules' have also been added to provide new combat options. 'Firearm Cooling' is a module specialized for Viessa; it reduces the cooldown of 'Firearm Enhancement' type skills when an enemy is afflicted with a 'Status Effect' via 'Area Duration' or 'Projectile' skills. 'Laceration' is an efficient module for Lepic and Blair, who deal damage over time; it is triggered when an enemy currently being hit by an 'Area Duration' skill is attacked with a 'Pull' or 'Piercing Projectile' skill.
Nexon is hosting various events to celebrate this update. The 'Special Cleaning Service Request II' attendance event, running until May 28, offers various growth resources and the 'Viessa Cleaning Service Skin.' Through the 'Transcendant Module Dismantling Week' event, which runs until May 21, players can dismantle 'Transcendant Modules' to obtain shards, which can then be exchanged for desired 'Transcendant Modules' at the shop run by 'BB-On.' Additionally, completing challenges in 'Esiemo’s Clash Preparation Mission' by April 29 will reward players with 'Superconductor Cooling Units' and 'Superheat Units,' and participating in the 'Clash Mode' beta survey during the same period will grant rewards such as a 'Crystallization Catalyst.
