Alpha7 Esports claimed the championship at the 2025 PUBG MOBILE Global Championship (PMGC) Grand Finals on Sunday, closing out a three-day event that also featured major announcements about the game’s competitive and creative future.

Held at Siam Paragon from Dec. 12–14, the Grand Finals brought together 16 teams competing for a share of a $3 million prize pool. Alpha7 Esports finished with 142 points, including 76 eliminations and two match victories, to secure the title. ULF Esports placed second, while Alpha Gaming finished third.

Alpha Gaming’s player TOP was named the Grand Finals MVP after a strong showing across the weekend. The tournament concluded a month-long series of events across Bangkok that blended esports competition with fan activations, performances, and large-scale installations tied to PUBG MOBILE.

Game updates and plans for 2026

The final day featured the “SMASH Rule,” under which teams needed to reach a points threshold and then win a match to immediately clinch the championship. Alpha7 Esports became the first team to reach that benchmark and ultimately secured the title in the final match after key rivals were eliminated late.

During the closing ceremony, PUBG MOBILE Producer Rick Li outlined several initiatives planned for 2026. Among the announcements was a partnership with Ferrari, set to debut next year, alongside a new fast-paced battle royale mode designed around shorter, 10-minute matches that will enter beta testing.

Li also highlighted continued investment in World of Wonder, PUBG MOBILE’s user-generated content platform. According to the publisher, millions of custom maps have been created since the feature launched, with millions of players engaging daily. A $10 million prize pool has been allocated for World of Wonder creators in 2026 as part of efforts to further support community-driven content.

Additional updates included plans to host two PUBG MOBILE Global Open tournaments in 2026, expanding access to international competition, as well as continued enforcement actions against cheating and other rule violations.

The 2025 PMGC marked the largest edition of the tournament to date, combining esports competition with citywide events and signaling PUBG MOBILE’s intent to broaden both its competitive ecosystem and creative platforms in the coming year.
