Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME, the forthcoming mobile and PC adaptation of Naoya Matsumoto’s best-selling manga and anime, has cleared 500,000 pre-registrations, developer Akatsuki Games announced Monday. That milestone has unlocked the ★4 “Aiming for Greater Heights” Mina Ashiro character reward for all players at launch.

As the campaign builds momentum, a second ★4 character, “Blade Specialist” Soshiro Hoshina, is slated to become available once registrations top 850,000. Both characters draw directly from the original series’ roster and are expected to be featured prominently in early gameplay events.

In conjunction with the registration update, the production team released a new character promotional video highlighting Gen Narumi, captain of the Defense Force’s First Division. The high-quality animation showcases Narumi’s trademark gunsword and dynamic battle sequences, mirroring the intensity and visual style of the anime adaptation. The PV emphasizes fast-paced action and the character’s leadership role without altering the tone established in the source material.

Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME is being co-developed by Akatsuki Games, TOHO and Production I.G, drawing on the studios’ combined expertise in high-end 3D graphics and cross-platform optimization. The title follows the manga’s narrative of humanity’s struggle against monstrous kaiju, offering both solo missions and cooperative modes. Upon release, it will be free to download on the App Store, Google Play and Steam, with optional in-app purchases for cosmetic items and character upgrades.

The original manga has surpassed 18 million copies in print, while the anime adaptation’s first season aired April through June 2024, garnering top daily rankings on Japanese streaming platforms. A theatrical compilation premiered in March 2025, and season two is set to debut this July.
