Longtime gaming veteran and founder of prestigious organization G2 Esports, Carlos Rodriguez (often known as "Ocelote" or "CarlosR"), has announced his resignation from the company — completely parting ways with the team. The news comes after the organizations put Rodriguez on an eight-week leave from his duties earlier this week, after posting a video on Twitter associating with Andrew Tate — a figure controversial for his alleged human trafficking and misogyny.

Rodriguez's elicited a number of responses from the esports community — with many personalities offering a range of opinions on the news.

"As a global esports organization serving the world's most diverse fan-base, we take responsibility for our fans, employees, team members, and partners across the world," G2 said in a statement announcing the news on Twitter. "In this context, we want to underline that we do not support any form of misogyny. We continue to prioritize fostering inclusivity and supporting a diverse gaming community."

Many former and current members of G2 expressed their gratitude for Rodriguez's work in the organization. "I will always be grateful for everything you have done for me," current G2 Esports LEC AD carry Victor "Flakked" Lirola stated.  Alfonso "mithy" Rodríguez aired, a similar statement, offering how he will always respect Rodriguez for everything he's done for esports in Spain and worldwide (though jabbing "no matter how stupid you have been sometimes"), and expressing his hope that he will do well in his future endeavors.

Other managerial giants such as Hector "HECZ" Rodriguez also expressed sadness at the announcement, with popular content creator Corentin "Gotaga" Houssein sharing a similar sentiment.

Others showed disappointment in the move, and also shared their thoughts on the context of the situation. Clayton "CaptainFlowers" Raines gave his opinion on the matter — a situation that many large figures in the community agreed with. "If people condemn you for acting like a fool and then you double down before making a fake apology, you're proving yourself to be unfit as a leader," CaptainFlowers stated in his tweet. "Carlos put his ego above everything else and cost G2 a lot. It's business, plain and simple, and that bullsh*t is bad for business."

Under Rodriguez, G2 became one of the largest and most successful esports teams in the world. "I created G2 eight-plus years ago, and I bootstrapped it with what I earned as a player, invested everything into it, not only money but also time,” Rodriguez stated in his farewell video. "What initially was a dream of mine, eventually became a group of people with similar ambitions, culture, and goals. That’s something I will always look back to and be happy about."
