Diamond Skin Nets Playing Ducks Sponsorship

Earlier today, German organization Playing Ducks announced their signing of Diamond Skin, a top European Heroes of the Storm team playing in the Heroes of the Storm Global Championship (HGC) premier league.

Playing Ducks was founded in 2009 and supports two other professional esports teams in Counter-Strike and Rainbow Six. While their teams have found limited success internationally, they have several national tournament accolades to their name.

Playing Ducks originally dipped their toes in Heroes of the Storm during the Open Beta in early March 2015, when they acquired mousesports’ German roster, but they did not stay for long. After two long years, the organization is ready to get back into the game with the advent of Blizzard’s new HGC premier league.

Jannik Hansen, Playing Ducks’ Head of Esports, is optimistic about the roster’s future. “HotS is a new segment and division for us, but as new and exciting as it is, I believe that we will be able to make it far together in the upcoming competitions that lie ahead of us [edited for clarity],” he said in an official statement. But flying over the competition to the top of the leaderboard may not be easy for the Ducks.

The roster is comprised of the remnants of the EU team ePunks as well as former Team Liquid players Cris and Sportbilly. The team barely made it into the HGC premier league during the third qualifier and were dealt another blow only a week ago with a last minute roster change. Their performance during the first weekend of HGC was shaky at best. Luckily, there’s still plenty of time for the German team to grind it out and aim for the top.

You can watching Playing Ducks compete with EU’s finest this weekend starting at 9:00am PST on Friday. For more information about HGC, visit Blizzard’s official esports site.
