The Gold Club World Championship returns to Beijing

Amidst the sweeping roster changes and massive patches, the return of one of the most competitive Heroes tournaments ever was announced today. Once again taking place at the famous national aquatics center in Beijing, The Gold Club World Championship has invited the best Heroes of the Storm teams in the world to compete for impressive cash prizes for the second year in a row.

Every team invited will walk away with at least $10,000, with the first place team winning $80,000. The second place team wins $70,000 so each team has plenty of motivation to make it to the grand finals. Historically, the GCWC has always showcased the highest level of Heroes of the Storm play and some experts even claim the competition to be fiercer than BlizzCon.

▲ The tournament will take place in Beijing's iconic "Water Cube"

Considering the power level of the invited teams, its safe to say that the GCWC will be the largest Heroes of the Storm event before the new year. In addition, this tournament represents the last major competitive matches before integral game changes like the removal of tower ammo and laning phase adjustments go live in December.

Invited Teams

● Super Perfect Team (HGC China)

● CE (HGC China)

● Beyond the Game (HGC China)

● Fnatic (HGC Europe)

● Team Dignitas (HGC Europe)

● Ballistix (HGC Korea)

● KSV Black (HGC Korea)

● Roll20 Esports (HGC North America)

Dignitas, Fnatic, Ballistix and KSV Black (previously known as MVP Black) will be showcasing new lineups and Junkrat and Alexstrasza will be available to play during the tournament. We can expect a vastly different meta than what we saw at BlizzCon, as this is the first major tournament since two big patches.

The tournament starts on November 27th and will conclude on December 10th. You can watch the tournament live at Twitch.tv/GCWC.
