Hearthstone Patch 17.2 goes live on May 12, just over a month after the last game update that curbed the scorching hot influence of Demon Hunter cards. Patch 17.2 will include three new Heroes, and will also introduce a new minion to Battlegrounds.
Patch 17.2 will bid farewell to Dire Wolf Alpha, and bring a new minion to Battlegrounds into the minion pool in its place. Rabid Saurolisk is a Tier 1 Beast who gains stats every time its controller plays minions with Deathrattle. Upgrading Rabid Saurolisk by combining it with another Rabid Saurolisk will raise its stats from 3/1 to 6/2 and its stat boosts from other minions' Deathrattle effects upgrade from +1/+1 to +2/+2.
Three new Heroes headline Patch 17.2: Lady Vashj, Maiev Shadowsong, and Kael’thas Sunstrider. Lady Vashj's Hero Power, Evolving Electricity, is a passive power that allows the controlling player to replace a minion in Bob's Tavern with one of a higher tier after Bob's Tavern has been upgraded. Kael’thas Sunstrider's Hero Power, Verdant Spheres, passively gives +2/+2 to every third minion the controlling player buys.
The only new Hero with an active Hero Power is Maiev Shadowsong. Imprison will make a minion in Bob's Tavern dormant for two turns. Once the two turns are up, the minion goes to the controlling player with a +1/+1 boost to its stats.
Other changes include the new feature of Deck Ordering in the Collection Manager. By pressing and holding a deck, players can rearrange their decks as long as they have all nine of the starting heroes unlocked (Demon Hunter is not included). In addition to other quality of life fixes to End of Season Rewards and the Collection Manager filter panel, the card text for Teron Gorefiend has been updated for accuracy: “Destroy all other friendly minions. Deathrattle: Resummon them with +1/+1.”
