With the official launch of 'GTA6' about five months away, a company has made headlines by declaring the release date a company holiday.
It is not uncommon for individuals or even companies to take time off when a major game is released. In Japan, it has become a recurring phenomenon for employees to take leave whenever a highly anticipated global title launches—from the Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest, and The Legend of Zelda series to, more recently, Elden Ring. Some companies have even gone so far as to designate these release dates as official holidays.
Now, a U.S. company is drawing attention for a similar move. The company in question is Burger Motorsports, an automotive tuning parts manufacturer based in California. On the 11st, Burger Motorsports posted an internal notice on its Instagram account announcing that it would be closing for business on November 18, the release date of 'GTA6'.
The decision was made after several employees informed the company of their plans to take leave on the 'GTA6' launch day. Given the intense anticipation—even five months out—the company reasoned that more employees would likely request time off as the date approached, potentially disrupting normal operations. Consequently, management decided it would be better to simply designate the day as a company-wide holiday.
The notice also included a humorous touch. Burger Motorsports drew laughs by stating, "We will resume operations once our employees have finished their initial exploration, completed at least one mission, and returned to the real world."
Despite there being five months left until launch, interest and anticipation for 'GTA6' have already reached a fever pitch. Widely considered the most anticipated game of the year, 'GTA6' is scheduled for official release on November 18. The industry is watching closely to see the impact it will have once it finally hits the market.
