On April 11th, Pearl Abyss released another GM’s Notes regarding the new Cron Stone Enhancement system, which was first revealed by an update preview on April 9th. In the new GM’s Notes, PA revealed that they decided to cancel the Cron Stone Enhancement system and add a new Enhancement system instead.
With the new Enhancement system, which will be called “the Caphras Enhancement” system, you will be able to enhance your gear to PEN safely. The original Enhancement system will still be available and the Caphras Enhancement will require the same amount or even more resources and effort as the original Enhancement system does.
You can either choose the original Enhancement system or the Caphras Enhancement system when enhancing your gear. Pearl Abyss has decided that the Caphras Enhancement will not require Cron Stones, but will require a new item called Caphras Stone. The Caphras Stones will be obtainable via grinding, mining, wood chopping, underwater gathering, and fluid collecting.
The Caphras Enhancement will be available for TRI or higher gear. You can summon the Black Spirit, choose the Caphras Enhancement menu, and add Caphras Stones to your gear. The gear will gain some amount of exp per enhancement, and will get additional item effects when the exp reaches a certain level. If the Caphras Level reaches 20, you can then do Force Enhancement. When the gear is Force Enhanced, the enhancement level will go up and the max durability will decrease by 100.
The Caphras Stones will be obtainable from the grind spots in Valencia, Kamasylvia, and Drieghan, by Gathering (mining, underwater gathering, fluid collecting), and via daily quests. The maximum price for Caphras Stone will be 1 million silver. Going from TRI to TET will require about 1.5 billion to 1.7 billion silver, and going from TET to PEN will require about 15 billion to 18 billion silver (based on weapons).
Lastly, the GM’s Notes also mentioned Combat Power. Combat Power is the combined gear score of the character’s main AP, Awakening AP, and DP. There will be tiers for Combat Power, and characters will get bonus stats depending on their tier. Also, an icon that indicates the character’s Combat Power Tier will appear next to the character’s name. Pearl Abyss added that the system was designed to keep you motivated and to give you a clearer view of how your AP/DP is scaling. With that being said, the tier and the bonus stats will only be visible to yourself. However, if you are one of the top 0.1% Combat Power players, a special icon next to your character’s name will be visible to everyone, and PA is discussing the option to turn this icon on/off.
Pearl Abyss ended the notes saying that Black Desert Online has been out for years now, and they wanted to add more fun to the game. They also apologized for the controversy over the Cron Stone Enhancement system, and for not being clear enough in explaining the new Combat Power and tier system.
