Teamfight Tactics Brings Back Festival of Beasts With Revival Update Celebrating TFT’s First Korean Champion

Riot Games has released new content for Teamfight Tactics, bringing back one of the auto battler’s most influential sets with a modern update. Titled Revival: Festival of Beasts, the release arrived today and revisits Fates: Festival of Beasts, a set widely regarded as a turning point in the game’s design history.

Originally launched in 2020, Fates helped define TFT’s long-term direction by introducing Relic items and giving legendary champions clearer, more specialized identities. The revival version reimagines that foundation while integrating systems that have since become core to the game’s evolution.

According to Riot Games, the revival format is designed to blend nostalgia with experimentation. Returning mechanics include the Fortune trait, which rewards players for extended losing streaks with increasingly valuable payouts, and the Chosen mechanic, which enhances a single unit with bonus stats and a boosted trait count. Together, these systems aim to encourage high-risk decision-making and flexible playstyles.

The update also reintroduces several high-impact champions, including Kayle, a defining unit from the original set. Kayle was notably used by Jung “Palchaseon” In-je, the only Korean player to win a TFT world championship, during his run at the 2021 Fates Championship.

Beyond returning mechanics, Revival: Festival of Beasts adds new layers through Opening Encounters and Augments. Opening Encounters such as Vitality’s Shared Draft and Fireworks Festival modify the early flow of matches, while new Augments like Cult’s Offering—granting bonus health to Galio—expand the range of viable compositions. Riot says these additions are intended to create broader strategic variety while preserving the identity of the original set.

The release coincides with Patch 16.3, which introduces new cosmetic content. Available starting today are Prestige Mini Immortal Hero Riven, Unbound Mythmaker Irelia, and the Dream Horizon Arena, among other additions tied to the Lunar New Year theme.

Revival: Festival of Beasts is now live within Teamfight Tactics, which is set in the universe of League of Legends. Additional details are available through official TFT channels.
