The adolescent Donovan Romero launches his first game on Steam

It seems like game development is becoming a family business in the Romero Family. John Romero, co-founder of id Software and developer for the DOOM series and Wolfenstein 3D, has announced the official launch of Gunman Taco Truck, the first game developed by his son, Donovan.

Donovan Romero, 12 years old, had an idea for his own game since he was 10. He learned programming to develop this game, and is planning to launch more games in the future.

Donovan’s very first game, Gunman Taco Truck, launched on Steam on Jan 31st. It is an 8-bit side-scrolling action game where the protagonist must survive in a mutant-infested world brought about by a zombie apocalypse, while traveling and making tacos.

The protagonist must travel across different cities, fight mutants to loot ingredients, and make tacos for hungry but picky survivors. The goal is to reach Winnipeg, Canada, a survivor’s sanctuary that has a dire lack of taco trucks.

Gunman Taco Truck is currently available in English, Italian, and Spanish, with the price set at $11.99. General information of the game is available on the official website and the Steam Store Page, and detailed information on game tips and playthroughs are available on John and Donovan Romero’s official Twitter.
