Hearthstone’s latest patch is a gold, pack and card back galore

Patch 13.2 has finally hit Hearthstone, and the five cards announced to be nerfed have seen their cost change. However, Team 5 did more than press the ‘nerf’ button, as the community learned to its surprise. The patch also kickstarts Hearthstone’s celebration of the Lunar New Year and announces an upcoming event called ‘Season of Rastakhan’, all of which goes paired with easy-to-obtain dust, packs, gold and card backs for players.

From February 5th until the 12th, Blizzard is celebrating the start of the Chinese New Year, the year of the boar. Upon logging in players receive a golden copy of the rare card Fireworks Tech for free. Additionally, there are special festive daily quests which reward gold as well as an equal amount of dust.

After this event ends, it passes the baton to a Rastakhan’s Rumble-themed event, which runs from February 13th until the third of March. Celebrating Hearthstone’s latest expansion one more time, the event will feature special Tavern Brawls akin to the set’s single player content. Accompanying this celebration is a weekly, repeatable quest, which rewards a free Rastakhan’s Rumble card pack when they play three Tavern Brawls.

Lastly, a whole bunch of card backs was added to the client. Though most of them are will be rewarded through mysterious ‘upcoming events’, one of them has gone live immediately. The Mark of Hakkar card back - dubbed Hakkcard back by the ever so inventive community - was given to a select group of people at first. The trick to acquiring this beauty is fairly simple: play a match against someone who owns the card back and, much like Hakkar’s curse in World of Warcraft, the ‘corruption’ will spread to you. Whereas in WoW said corruption tried to kill you, though, in Hearthstone it rewards you with a fancy sleeve to wear!
