Team Griffin is Acquired by Still8, Formerly Known as Kongdoo

On the 22nd of November (KST), Still8 announced that they have acquired Team Griffin.

Team Griffin is a team that was created in 2017 in Challengers Korea. They were promoted to the LCK in only one year and finished the regular season in second place in the 2018 LCK Summer Split. Not only that, they became the runner-up of the entire summer split as they lost to kt Rolster in the finals.

Still8 is a company that has a wider business model in the esports scene; they manage content, run leagues, and have ‘E-Sportainment’ management. CEO Seo Kyung-jong said, “With this investment in a League of Legends team, I’ll do my best to raise the value of the LCK brand and support the players and coaches as well as possible.”

Team Griffin CEO Cho Kyu-nam said, “I’m thankful to all the companies in and out of Korea that were interested in Team Griffin. The reason we chose Still8 was because we thought that CEO Seo’s philosophy and vision on esports blends in well with those of Team Griffin.”

Recently, Kongdoo Company was rebranded to Still8. Besides Team Griffin for League of Legends, they run Team Panthera in Overwatch, Team Reddot and Ghilliesuit in PUBG, and Team Husk in Fortnite. On the last 20th, Still8 sold the Kongdoo Monster League of Legends team to Brion Company.

Team Griffin will maintain their name for now; they will be aiming to use a new team name and logo by the summer split of 2019.
