Battlerite's upcoming Winter Patch promises bountiful changes

Earlier today, Stunlock Studios announced the coming of Winter Patch, Battlerite's next big update. As mentioned in their previous patch notes, it will go live on December 14th, hoping to quell several critical community concerns while also spreading some seasonal cheer.

The first item on the list is an overhaul of the ranking system. The current one is a "grade" system in which players accumulate points to move upwards from Grade 1. Many are of the opinion that these grades do not describe skill level intuitively and often lead to mismatched games. There’s no word yet on how the new ranking system will work, but it will most likely follow the tier-based systems popularized by StarCraft II and League of Legends.

Battlerite is also getting flooded with new cosmetics, including winter themed weapons for every champion as well as the game's first legendary outfits. Based on the leaks so far, all the new toys look amazing. Winter Veil Poloma riding a polar bear? Check.

There’s also a new champion in the works that hasn’t been announced yet. It’s impossible to speculate who it will be, but looking at the cast's current role distribution, it would make the most sense if a support was released. More details regarding this new champion should come out a few days before the patch goes live.

Ending the list were small visual optimizations and bug fixes.
