Fortnite is looking forward to entering the Chinese market after passing their content evaluation

 

Fortnite just received a green light to enter the Chinese market.


On May 15th, the Chinese Cultural Market Network, an affiliated organization under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, delivered the news that Fortnite passed content evaluation on its official homepage. The ratification number is [2018]0081. The evaluation seems to have progressed relatively sooner than expected, and the servicing company is Tencent. The actual publication will probably not take too long as the content, in general, is confirmed to not have any grounds for disqualification.


Fortnite is a TPS developed by Epic Games which allows players to build and shoot all at the same time. The title showed exponential growth when its Battle Royale Mode was added in last September. According to the data from SuperData Research, the title earned a profit of approximately 278 million dollars as of April which was 30% more than what was in March. This growth is expected to be further enhanced when the title enters the Chinese market.


Tencent now holds two giants of the Battle Royale in the current industry - PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) and Fortnite. In the year of 2013, Tencent acquired 48.4% of the total share of Epic Games through investments. The company is also showing considerable results by partnering with PUBG Corporation and launching PUBG Mobile. Tencent expressed its positive view on Fortnite and PUBG in their 1Q financial report.
