MVP Pilot: "As an ADC, it's very difficult to play against Swain"

On the 4th of March, at the Gangnam Nexon Arena, the 30th day of the 2017 LCK Spring Split took place. On the 2nd series of the day, MVP played against KSV and won with a score of 2-1. Pilot played Caitlyn consecutively and had taken leads in both the laning phases and later teamfights. In game 1, Pilot had also scored a pentakill.

The following is an interview with MVP Pilot.

How do you feel taking that victory?

Although we won today, we're still lowly placed in the current LCK standings. We still have a long way to go, so I'm not that happy about winning today. I'll continue to put in more effort so that we can continue to win.

Due to the fierce competition in the standings, today's match was very important for you guys. Was there pressure on you because of that fact?

I only feel pressure when I am unsatisfied with my own performance. During practice, I was satisfied with myself, so I didn't feel too much pressure.

You landed the 4th pentakill of this season.

It felt good at that time, but that energy died down a little bit after losing game 2. I'm glad that we won the 3rd game. But since I had scored multiple pentakills throughout my career, it didn't feel that amazing. Back then, when you made a pentakill, you were given gaming equipment as a reward... (Laughs)

As you've mentioned, you've scored a number of pentakills throughout your career. Which one was the most memorable one?

The one I did with Tristana back in the day. At the time, I was still a rookie, so I was very nervous. I think it's the most memorable one because of that fact.

In game 1, ADD picked Swain. Many players didn't think too highly of Swain. Were you worried at all when you saw him being picked?

Personally speaking, I was punished multiple times by Swain in solo queue. Because he's so difficult to play against as an ADC, I liked it when ADD picked him. As an ADC, it's very difficult to play against Swain because when you get CC'd, you get pulled in towards him.

You scored a pentakill in game 1. Were you expecting the MVP title?

I'm satisfied with the pentakill alone. To be honest, I thought beforehand that if we'd win, Swain was going to receive the title no matter what. Normally, when an uncommon champion is picked in a winning game, the player that plays it gets the MVP title. (Laughs)

Your next opponents are ROX Tigers and Jin Air Green Wings. Those matches are also very important...

We have a busy schedule - and in times like this, I think it's important to stay in high spirit. Because we're in good spirit from winning today's match, we'll maintain the mindset that we can win against anyone and prepare well.

When your team had broken the losing streak a little while back, you've all stated that team MVP's goal was to go on a 13 win streak. Unfortunately, you guys failed to achieve that goal. What kind of effect did it have on MVP's overall competitive spirit?

I'm always very competitive - and the same goes for everyone in the team. I think that's why our performance is getting better over time.

Any last words?

Although we won today, we're still in 9th place in the standings. I'll never be satisfied with that, so we'll continue to practice and try our best to win our remaining games. Please cheer for us.
