ahq Westdoor: "H2K's macro game is solid, but I expect us to place 2nd and advance."

Are you aware of your huge popularity in Korea? Many call you "Westdoor the God".

I am! Playing on the KR ladder a lot probably helped.

What's the story behind your IGN?

I was trying to come up with an IGN that would have two or three syllables. Eventually I came to "Westdoor", which in Taiwanese is nearly homophonous with "Seaman" in English. It was cool enough so I stuck with it. Not much of a story, I know.

You were quick to revoke your retirement following 2015 Worlds.

My original intent was to take a break from competitive play, not retire. One thought led to another, however, and I found myself hanging up my shoes. Regret set in soon after the announcement was made. I knew I wanted to play again.

How is your relationship with Chawy? Would you call it a healthy rivalry?

Chawy is comfortable on a wide range of consistent, reliable champions, whereas I prefer playing aggressively on assassins. Our team is capable of shifting styles according to which midlaner is playing. I definitely would call it a healthy rivalry - we're great friends to boot.

Will you stick to your few signature champions, such as Fizz, Twisted Fate, and Zed?

I'm preparing other picks as well. My champion pool is one of the things I need to work on.

You're a rebel in an age where most midlaners share a common meta champion pool. Many fans appreciate your unique and stylish pocket picks. Thoughts on the matter?

I know my fans love it when I pick one of my favorites, but I have to be able to play what will best help our team win. It definitely is a point of concern for me.

This is your third consecutive Worlds appearance. What are your goals?

Maintaining a rigorous practice schedule for such a long time was difficult, but I am proud and honored to have made it to three World Championships. I am determined to improve upon my past achievements, and am confident of our chances to reach at least the quarterfinals.

Koreans are well acquainted with FW and ahq, but the league itself remains unfamiliar.

I would say LMS is the midpoint between LPL and LCK. We have a healthy mix of LPL-flavoured hyperaggression and LCK-flavoured rotational play.

You drew EDG, H2K, and INTZ. Thoughts on the group draw?

EDG is the strongest. H2K's macro game is solid, but I expect us to place 2nd and advance.

You're known to closely follow LCK. Who or what impressed you this summer?

The most memorable game was definitely the 2-HP-Baron-steal Game 5 that closed out the KT-ROX Grand Finals. The most inspirational player was obviously Faker. His stylistic flexibility and knowledge of limits are amazing, and I'm sure most other midlaners would pick Faker as well. I'd also like to mention Bjergsen for his admirable consistency, although he is not an LCK player. I met him on the KR ladder a few days back. He was impressive as expected.

Fizz is an extremely popular pick in KR. Why not a few words on Fizz before we wrap up?

Fizz excels at killing enemy champions and is capable of hard carrying games. He is also very cute, especially when you use Fisherman Fizz, although I've yet to try out Super Galaxy Fizz.
