2K announced on the 16th that it has introduced current-gen console versions and a Steam update to mark the 10th anniversary of Mafia III's release. The new console version supports 60 FPS gameplay.
The newly released Mafia III: Definitive Edition is available on PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X|S. The console version improves mission progression stability, graphics, and the user interface, while ensuring that trophy and achievement progress is recorded more accurately.
The Steam update applies across overall gameplay, including mission progression, achievement tracking, and NPC behavior. Graphics, display settings, and the user interface have also been refined.
Upgrade paths for existing console versions vary by platform. Owners of the PS4 physical or digital edition can upgrade to the PS5 digital version, while owners of the Xbox One digital edition can upgrade to the Xbox Series X|S digital version.
Mafia III was released on October 7, 2016, and follows the revenge story of Lincoln Clay, who loses his surrogate family in 1968 in "New Bordeaux," a city ruled by the Mafia. Players confront the Italian Mafia using their own playstyle—whether direct confrontation or stealth infiltration—and build a new criminal empire alongside their lieutenants.
Mafia III: Definitive Edition includes the base game, all story DLCs, and bonus packs. It is also included in Mafia: The Omertà Collection, a bundle featuring four titles in the Mafia series.
