Smilegate announced on Wednesday, September 30, that Chaos Zero Nightmare (CZN), a dark fantasy roguelike RPG developed by SuperCreative, has released a prologue story and introduced quality-of-life improvements ahead of the launch of a new season for its seasonal content, Galactic Disaster.
In the preview running from today until October 21, players can experience the prologue story 'Escape from Judgment', which marks the beginning of the season. Following the Empire's call-up order, the Captain (the protagonist) and their party embark on a large-scale Chaos investigation, becoming entangled with distinct allied factions as a mysterious figure claiming to be an apostle of the goddess appears to heighten the tension. The main story for CZN's fifth season, 'A Promise Upon the Snow', will officially begin on October 21.
During the same period, players can obtain 'Anika', a character appearing in the story, as a new 4-star Combatant, while also receiving another chance to acquire 'Sereniel', who was released as a seasonal Combatant last December, alongside her Partner 'Peko'.
System improvements and new features aimed at enhancing player convenience have also been introduced. Specifically, new missions and rewards have been added to the growth guide to support early-game players in adapting quickly, while the newly introduced 'Ether Cell System' makes obtaining resources required for character growth much smoother. The overall UI (user interface) for the main combat content, 'Full-Scale Offensive', has been updated, and new achievements and rewards have been added. Additionally, enhancements allow players to intuitively check whether desired effects are included in their 'Save Data' during Chaos exploration.
New events celebrating the update are also taking place. First, a countdown has begun for the 'Nightmare Festival', scheduled to mark CZN's 1st anniversary, awarding various rewards through a check-in event. In addition, two events featuring Sereniel have been prepared, offering Crystals and various growth resources for clearing given missions.
