Naughty Dog has teased that the full reveal of its new sci-fi title, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet (hereafter Intergalactic), will take place in 2027. For the remainder of 2026, the studio plans to focus on development without sharing additional updates.
Neil Druckmann shared the news in his closing remarks for "The Last of Us Day," posted on the official website on September 28. He stated that Intergalactic is being crafted as the most ambitious game in Naughty Dog's history and promised to properly showcase the protagonist's sci-fi adventure in 2027. However, the timeline provided is for the game's full reveal window and does not confirm a 2027 release date.
Intergalactic is a new franchise for PS5 that Naughty Dog has been developing since 2020, first announced in December 2024. Set thousands of years in the future, it follows the story of bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun. Stranded on Sempiria—a planet whose communication with the outside world went dark centuries ago—Jordan must use all her skills and wits to escape an orbit no one has left in over 600 years.
Developer Naughty Dog is a studio under Sony Interactive Entertainment, known for creating Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter, followed by the Uncharted and The Last of Us series. Intergalactic is particularly noteworthy as Naughty Dog's effort to establish its next flagship title around a new universe and protagonist. A key point to watch in future reveals will be how the studio translates the character-driven narrative and action direction built up in its previous works into a sci-fi setting.
