Ahead of its official launch on October 8, Kakao Games' new 2.5D MMORPG World of Dokkaebi closed its "1st Character Name Reservation Event" early in approximately one hour. Starting September 23 at 11:00 AM, a "2nd Character Name Reservation Event" will open for names between 2 and 8 characters long.
Kakao Games launched the first event on September 22 at 8:00 PM. Although originally planned to run for four hours, an influx of players prompted an announcement of an early closure around 9:00 PM. In the second event, players can reserve names ranging from 2 to 8 characters, excluding single-character names.
World of Dokkaebi is an MMORPG currently in development based on the IP of Myeolgwisu Dojeon, a popular Naver web novel and webtoon. The game adopts a hybrid visual style combining 2D pixel-art characters with 3D backgrounds, constructing its world with pixel art that captures traditional Korean motifs.
Kakao Games is collaborating with REDICE Studio, the studio behind Solo Leveling, to expand the original IP's universe into the game.
