Smilegate Hope Studio showcased two social games at the 3rd Korea Social Value Festa, inviting attendees to participate in virtual experiences where they harvested 65,658 meals' worth of fruit and collected 9,766 kg of marine debris.

Smilegate Hope Studio (hereinafter Hope Studio) announced on the 23rd that it participated in the 3rd Korea Social Value Festa hosted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event took place from September 21 to 22 at COEX in Seoul, providing a venue for the government, businesses, and civil society to share definitions of social value and explore actionable solutions.
In recognition of its gamifying giving approach, Hope Studio operated a special booth in the Innovation & Environment Zone. This zone also featured booths from companies using innovative technologies to address social issues, including SK Hynix and Korea East-West Power.
Hope Studio introduced visitors to its donation platform embodying the philosophy 'PLAY for GOOD.' It also explored collaboration opportunities with various entities, including corporations, non-profit organizations, and cooperatives, to expand social value.
At the 'Smile Donation Arcade' set up at the venue, Hope Studio unveiled two social games utilizing Lost Ark's character IP 'Mokoko': 'Harvest for All' and 'Ocean Again.' In 'Harvest for All,' which focused on hunger, participants harvested 65,658 meals' worth of fruit, while in 'Ocean Again,' centered on environmental conservation, 9,766 kg of marine waste was collected. Interactive programs for visitors, including lucky draw events, were also conducted.
Hope Studio is running a donation campaign tied to the event, titled 'Make a Better World Through Joyful Participation, FUNding,' through October 16. FUNding is an umbrella term for Hope Studio donation campaigns signifying that anyone can participate in giving enjoyably (fun). All raised funds will be used to provide digital devices to vulnerable children and youth in areas facing population decline as well as remote island and mountainous regions.
Kwon Yeon-joo, Director of Hope Studio, said, "It was meaningful to introduce the role of the Hope Studio donation platform—helping people experience the discovery and resolution of social problems as enjoyably as playing a game—to many who are interested in social value." She added, "Going forward, Hope Studio will continue to spread social value as a platform connecting corporations, public-interest organizations, institutions, and the general public."
Hope Studio operates a gamification-based platform alongside Hope Partners, including game developers and IP owners, spreading a donation culture for future generations.
