To mark Chuseok, SOOP conducted a volunteer event with streamers at Seongmin Community Welfare Center, serving meals and delivering holiday gifts to around 100 local senior citizens.
The event took place for about two hours starting at 11:00 AM on September 22. Streamers including former Chinese cuisine chef Ilhaneun Yonghyeong, YangPang, and Eoj Woojin participated, cooking SOOP's custom menu item, Soop-bul Jjamppong, on-site in a food truck to serve to the seniors. Participants prepared the meals, conversed with the seniors, and handed out Chuseok gift sets provided by SOOP.
Soop-bul Jjamppong is a dish co-developed by SOOP and Ilhaneun Yonghyeong. It was created while showcasing various cooking content based out of Ilhaneun Yonghyeong's culinary studio, Yong Sikdang, and this initiative allowed the menu item previously introduced through content to be shared with the local community.
Ilhaneun Yonghyeong said, "I have usually created content to communicate with people through food, but sharing the meals I made with senior citizens made this even more meaningful." He added, "Moving forward, I want to continue happily participating in meaningful causes using my talents."
SOOP has continuously engaged in corporate social responsibility activities with streamers, including coal briquette distribution, Arbor Day tree planting, and environmental cleanups. The platform plans to continue local community outreach activities leveraging streamers' content and talents in the future.
