The NC Cultural Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the Foundation) participated as a co-organizer in the 3rd Korea Social Value Festa, held from September 21 to 22 at COEX in Seoul. At the event, the Foundation introduced My AAC, an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) application featuring over 2,000 picture symbols and AI voice technology.
My AAC is an inclusive technology initiative operated by the Foundation since 2015 to assist people with disabilities who face communication barriers. Under the slogan "The Shape of Our Connection," the Foundation designed its exhibition booth with translucent square panels reminiscent of picture symbol buttons. Booth visitors directly experienced the natural AI voices and picture symbols integrated into My AAC.
The booth also featured an interactive wall where tapping AAC-related question cards onto Near Field Communication (NFC) terminals printed out corresponding answers. Interactive events such as writing letters with picture symbols and customizing keyboard keycaps with selected graphics were held, with the keycap decorating activity attracting large crowds of visitors.
On September 22, the second day of the event, Yuran Noh, head of the Inclusive Technology Business Team at the NC Cultural Foundation, featured as a speaker in a special program. Noh shared real-world case studies and the Foundation's journey in addressing communication challenges for people with disabilities through My AAC.
Myungjin Park, Chairperson of the NC Cultural Foundation, stated, "Through the Korea Social Value Festa, we were able to convey the importance of augmentative and alternative communication and the positive impact of inclusive technology to a broader audience." Park added, "Moving forward, we will continue working to build a human-centric future where everyone can express their thoughts without communication barriers and treat one another with mutual respect."
The NC Cultural Foundation is a non-profit foundation established in 2012, marking the 15th anniversary of NCSOFT's founding, to conduct systematic and continuous corporate social responsibility activities. It carries out social contribution initiatives with the goal of fostering a creative and inclusive cultural ecosystem for the qualitative advancement of society.
