Nexon announced on September 21 that the three APAC representative teams for The Grand Major 2026, the global esports tournament for team-based FPS THE FINALS, have been finalized. The main event will take place in Sweden from November 27 to 29 with a total prize pool of $150,000.
Developed by Embark Studios, THE FINALS ran a total of four TGM Online Series cycles across each region from May to August. Qualification for the end-of-year international tournament was determined by cumulative points earned in each cycle, with Chinese team KingZero securing a direct spot in the main event as the top team on the APAC leaderboard. The Closed Qualifier to decide the remaining two seeds was held on September 19.
A total of eight teams participated in the qualifier, including Korea's Ape Squad and MIRGG, China's DRG, Japan's Tsukuyomi, Indonesia's Gunflix, joint Korean-Australian team 777rs, joint Japanese-Thai team Hanabi, and joint Australian-New Zealand team Mosbongo. In the starting matches, Ape Squad, Mosbongo, Hanabi, and 777rs advanced to the next round as the top two teams in their respective groups.
777rs faced Ape Squad on 'SYS$HORIZON' and 'Las Vegas Stadium,' securing two consecutive wins to lock in their spot in the main event. DRG, Mosbongo, Hanabi, and MIRGG competed for the final slot, with MIRGG and Hanabi advancing to the final round.
Hanabi took the first win on 'Galaxy Estates' behind player MidStar's heavy firepower. MIRGG tied the series in the following round by securing two Cashouts, then won on the final map, 'SYS$HORIZON,' with strategic elimination timing control. As a result, KingZero, 777rs, and MIRGG will represent APAC at The Grand Major 2026.
The Grand Major 2026 will feature representative teams from three regions—APAC, AMERICAS, and EMEA—competing for the ultimate championship at DreamHack Stockholm in Sweden. All matches will be broadcast live online, with Korean broadcasts available on the official THE FINALS channels on CHZZK and SOOP.
