In partnership with Isang Creative, Nexon officially launched "MAPLESTORY ESCAPE," an escape room cafe that brings the universe of its flagship game MapleStory into a physical space near Hongik University, on September 21.
Nexon (Co-CEOs Kang Dae-hyun and Kim Jung-wook), in collaboration with Isang Creative (CEO Lee Sang), opened the MAPLESTORY ESCAPE venue at 90 Wausan-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, designing the space so players can directly explore various in-game regions in real life. The escape room experience costs 29,000 won per person, with entry allowed for groups of 2 to 6 people per session. Regular reservations open every Monday at 10 a.m. via the YES24 platform.
The escape room cafe features a total of five diverse themes. On opening day, September 21, the thriller-themed "Kerning City" and the arcade-themed "Mu Lung" were unveiled first, with the spooky-themed "Haunted Mansion" set to be added on September 28. Following these, the stealth-themed "Edelstein" on October 5 and the arcade-themed "Ludibrium" on October 12 will be revealed sequentially. At the physical venue, visitors can purchase exclusive limited-edition merchandise, including acrylic dioramas and plush pouch keychains, while competing with other participants for the top spot via a theme-by-theme ranking system on the official website.
To commemorate the official opening, an early booking period for MapleStory players will run through September 27 alongside various offline events. The "Maple Escape Room No. 1" event will award a commemorative acrylic stand to the team with the fastest daily completion time in the "Kerning City" and "Mu Lung" themes. Additionally, "Kerning City in Hongdae" will take place across the streets of Hongdae between 12:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., where visitors can meet in-game NPCs. Those who successfully complete offline mini-games such as "Mr. Pickall's Lock-Picking," "How to Become a Thief with the Dark Lord," and "Find Shumi's Coin" will receive a special physical reward, the ESCAPE L-Folder.
A special three-day private venue event, "MAPLE ESCAPE DAY," allowing fans to interact with popular creators, will take place from October 9 to October 11. During this period, famous creators including Pangiyo, Segulja, Myeongye Hunjang, Jingyeok Cannon, and Cheongmyo will appear as special part-time staff to energize the venue. Furthermore, an online match prediction vote will run until September 27 for an escape room showdown between team Ira333 & Tayo and team Seo Chul-goo & Heo Sung-bum (survival show experts). Simply participating in the match prediction vote grants the exclusive in-game "You're the Suspect!" Chair, while players who correctly predict the winning team will additionally receive a "Hallowcat Damage Skin (Unit) Selection Coupon".
