Kim "Jisuboy" Ji-soo, a veteran caster on the PUBG esports scene, spoke out strongly regarding the recent cheating controversy and KRAFTON's inadequate response.
'Jisuboy' first expressed deep regret when addressing the players at the center of the controversy. He stated that while he had cheered for, been moved by, and even respected the exceptional performance they demonstrated over the years, and though the players were the very driving force behind his commentary, this incident served as a moment where the deep trust he held was shattered.
He also made it clear that once trust is broken, it is difficult to recover. He expressed sorrow over the current situation where even honest players competing fairly across the globe are facing unjust criticism, pointing out that this affair has left deep wounds on players who take the stage with pride and confidence.
In particular, he firmly asserted that as official partners and esports players who ought to set an example for users above all others, they committed actions that should never have occurred. He said, "Regardless of the simple presence or absence of rules and regulations, this act is nothing short of an insult to every player who enjoys PUBG. Therefore, beyond sincere reflection and apologies from those involved, severe consequences fitting their actions must follow."
He did not forget to offer advice to the game publisher as well. Commentator Kim "Jisuboy" Ji-soo reminded that "the role of countless partners around the world was immense in growing PUBG into a global game," adding, "Since viewers who watched partners' broadcasts were converted into players, KRAFTON also has a duty to protect and preserve them."
Lastly, he earnestly requested that KRAFTON present a clear and strict outcome that players can accept. He appealed, "I still remember the joy and memories of players who dropped into Erangel with nothing 9 years ago, falling countless times before finally securing their first chicken dinner. Those memories remain alive in the hearts of not just myself, but everyone who enjoys PUBG. I ask that you respect those memories and protect the hearts of gamers.
