The battle power of the LoL national team heading to the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games is finally being unveiled.
On September 19, the 'LoL National Team Evaluation Matches' open at the Busan Cinema Center. The event will take place over two days on September 19 and 20 on an open stage with a capacity of approximately 2,400 seats, featuring matchups against the US and Vietnam national teams. The event is hosted by Hanwha Life and exclusively broadcast online via Disney+.
Under head coach Kang Dong-hoon, the South Korean national team brings together six top-tier players: 'Zeus' Choi Woo-je (Hanwha Life Esports), 'Canyon' Kim Geon-bu (Gen.G Esports), 'Zeka' Kim Geon-woo (Hanwha Life Esports), 'Faker' Lee Sang-hyeok (T1), 'Gumayusi' Lee Min-hyeong (Hanwha Life Esports), and 'Keria' Ryu Min-seok (T1).
The US team, faced on the first day, consists of players active in the LCS and NACL, including 'Denator', 'Perry', 'Aojun', 'ScaryJerry', and 'Zyko'. On day two, the Vietnam national team will feature its full Asian Games roster: 'Pun', 'Kiaya', 'Hijzto', 'Direy', 'Eddie', and 'Taki'.
Taking the stage ahead of the matches, Busan Mayor Chun Jae-soo stated, "Busan is the partner city for the national esports team at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. We held national team qualifiers for four titles and are supporting the players' training camp. The city of Busan will fully back the national team so they can finish their final preparations here in Busan."
He added, "All six players on the LoL national team have reached the pinnacle of the world, and their names alone make fans around the globe thrill with excitement. I hope they complete their final checkup here in Busan and raise the Taegeukgi at the very top in Aichi-Nagoya. Together with 3.3 million Busan citizens, I will cheer them on until the day they return with news of gold."
Meanwhile, the LoL event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games will run for four days from September 29 to October 2. The South Korean national team has been placed in Group B alongside Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, and India.
