Smilegate has launched a collaboration between its mobile turn-based strategy RPG Epic Seven and Chaos Zero Nightmare. Running from September 17 to October 29, the crossover introduces new Heroes and a Special Substory, while also debuting Epic Seven's first-ever roguelike content, "Dimensional Exploration".
Epic Seven, developed by Super Creative, is collaborating with Chaos Zero Nightmare, a dark fantasy roguelike RPG published by Smilegate. Chaos Zero Nightmare features presentations dealing with characters' mental breakdowns and trauma, as well as a card-based roguelike combat system. Smilegate is adding key combatants from its IP, Chaos Zero Nightmare (hereinafter CZN), as Epic Seven Heroes and hosting commemorative events.
The Special Substory "Journey of the Stars, The Road Home" begins as Renoa, Haru, and Mei Lin from the CZN universe crash-land in Epic Seven's world of Orbis. With the help of Vivian, ruler of the magical city of Witchhaven, they embark on an adventure to return to their home world.
In the first week of the collaboration, 5-star Heroes Haru and Renoa make their debut. Haru, an Ice-element Warrior, enhances allies' survivability by granting Barrier and Indomitable while unleashing attacks that penetrate single-target enemy Defense. Renoa, a Dark-element Ranger, grants herself the unique effect "Requiem Bullet" to boost her Speed and Critical Hit Damage, dealing heavy damage to enemies in proportion to the number of accumulated Requiem Bullets.
Renoa can be obtained through the Special Check-In Event, which also provides various growth materials. Modeled after CZN's Epione Center, the "Witchhaven Daily Epione Center" allows players to check stories for each collaboration Hero and earn various rewards, including Exclusive Equipment.
In Epic Seven's first roguelike content, "Dimensional Exploration," players deploy multiple Heroes to explore unknown zones. Players choose paths at crossroads and assemble their team to synergize with the effects of loot obtained during exploration. The first season is themed around the CZN collaboration, with Smilegate planning to introduce seasons with various themes in the future.
