Two of BlizzCon's headline guests found each other in Anaheim this weekend. Simu Liu met LE SSERAFIM at the convention, and said afterward that he'd used the conversation to ask for something: a ticket to one of the group's upcoming shows in the United States.
LE SSERAFIM closed BlizzCon on Sunday night with a 45-minute set on the main stage, and their North American tour opens three days later at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Nine cities follow through early October, along with a stop at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Sept. 18.
Both parties had actual jobs at the show. Liu plays Blizzard games and has never been quiet about it, and Blizzard put him to work accordingly: he competed in the Blizzard Classic Cup StarCraft II Entertainment Match, then joined the casting desk to commentate. LE SSERAFIM go back further with the company. They were the first K-pop act to perform at BlizzCon when they played the 2023 show, where they premiered "Perfect Night" as part of an Overwatch 2 collaboration. This year's tie-in is "Made My Night," a video built around D.Va, with in-game items to match. Sunday's closing set was the first time they performed the song live.
BlizzCon has spent years booking musicians who have some connection to the games rather than acts dropped in from outside, and Liu fits the same pattern from the other direction. Whether he actually gets the ticket is a separate question!
