'Street Fighter,' the fighting game legend returning to the big screen, has released its second trailer.

On September 2, Paramount Pictures, Legendary, and Capcom unveiled the second trailer for the live-action movie 'Street Fighter.' The trailer centers on the rematch between Ryu, a once-top fighter who has distanced himself from combat, and Ken Masters, who is aiming for the top spot once again. It offers a glimpse into how Ryu, determined never to step onto the path of fighting again, accepts Chun-Li's offer and becomes drawn into the conspiracy surrounding the World Warrior Tournament.

The video shows the 1993 setting while offering a grounded look at how the original video game's exaggerated elements were brought to the screen. Dhalsim's arms stretch out just like in the game, and E. Honda's signature move, the Hundred Hand Slap, displays its classic destructive power as his palms shatter a distant wall. Additionally, Guile's signature flat-top hair—which he periodically combs back—along with Blanka's green skin and Akuma's imposing presence, remain faithful to the original designs.

Callina Liang, who plays Chun-Li, revealed that she underwent rigorous workouts to recreate Chun-Li's distinct physique for the film, increasing her thigh circumference by 6.5 cm.

Returning to theaters for the first time since the 1994 live-action adaptation starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and 2009's 'Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li,' this new movie faced a rocky production path. Legendary, which acquired the rights early on, began hiring a director, but the project hit a snag when original directors Danny and Michael Philippou stepped down to focus on directing the film 'Bring Her Back.' The project experienced further twists and turns even after appointing new director Kitao Sakurai, including reports of an indefinite release delay. However, after Paramount Pictures signed a three-year distribution deal with Legendary in September 2025, Street Fighter was confirmed as its first project and is now set for release this October.

Meanwhile, the film has also drawn attention for its star-studded cast. Popular artists 50 Cent and Orville Peck play Balrog (M. Bison) and Vega (Balrog), respectively, while WWE Superstar Joe "Roman Reigns" Anoa'i plays Akuma (Gouki), and Cody Rhodes plays Guile.

Whether the strategy of evoking fan nostalgia with its 1993 setting, arcade roots, and strong original vibe will resonate with audiences will be seen when it hits theaters this October. However, driven by the popularity and recognition of the original video game, the previously released trailers have rapidly accumulated views and shares, proving that its buzzworthy impact is already well established.
