NC will terminate its global publishing agreement for 'Throne & Liberty' (TL) with Amazon Games on February 1, 2027, with NC taking over direct service operations. The contract value, which had remained undisclosed for the three and a half years since the deal was signed, was also revealed: $70 million, or approximately ₩90.706 billion.

On the 12nd, NC announced through a regulatory filing that it had signed an agreement to amend its contract with Amazon Games. The company also lifted the confidentiality restrictions on the contract value, duration, and payment terms, which had been withheld since the initial disclosure on February 22, 2023, for business confidentiality reasons. The original confidentiality period was set to expire on September 30, 2028.

The finalized contract period runs from January 31, 2023, to February 1, 2027, with the start date marking the effective date of the agreement. While the original contract was set for five years following the commercial launch of TL, NC reached an agreement with its partner on the 12nd to move up the end date. Given that the global version of TL officially launched in October 2024, the contract could have otherwise extended until 2029 under the original terms.

The reason for the shortened duration is the transfer of service operations. In its filing, NC explained, "We plan to take over and continue providing the service before the publishing agreement expires; once the service transfer is complete, the contract will terminate as of that date." If the transfer is completed earlier than February 1, 2027, the contract will conclude at that time. This shift means NC will directly manage TL services in North America, South America, Europe, and Japan, regions previously handled by Amazon Games.

The $70 million contract value was converted to ₩90.706 billion based on the exchange rate at the time of the initial disclosure on February 22, 2023 (1 USD = 1295.₩80), representing 3.93% of NC's 2021 consolidated revenue of ₩2.3088 trillion. The contract included signing bonuses and advance payments, which were paid in installments according to an agreed-upon schedule; NC confirmed that it has received the full amount.

At the time of the initial disclosure, the only information provided by NC was a lower bound of "at least 2.5% of 2021 consolidated revenue." Based on this, market estimates generally hovered around ₩57.7 billion, with some projections reaching the ₩100 billion range. The actual figure confirmed today is approximately ₩33 billion higher than that lower bound.

TL is a MMORPG developed by FirstSpark Games, a subsidiary of NC. It first launched in December 2023 in the first region, including South Korea, via NC's proprietary platform 'PURPLE,' while the global version published by Amazon Games officially began service in October 2024. In September of last year, the service area for the Steam global version expanded to include Asia, including South Korea and Taiwan, and in May of this year, service began in 11 countries across Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia.
