Global indie game publisher Devolver Digital has announced that Reigns, the kingdom management simulator developed by Nerial, has surpassed 4 million cumulative players in celebration of its 10th anniversary, alongside the release of a major free update.

First released in 2016, Reigns introduced a unique kingdom simulator where players rule by simply swiping cards left or right. At a time when smartphone users were accustomed to casual swiping in their daily lives, the game made a significant impact by offering an experience where every swipe determined the fate of a nation. Since then, the franchise has expanded with numerous sequels, such as Reigns: Three Kingdoms and Reigns: Beyond, as well as official spin-off titles based on the Game of Thrones and The Witcher universes, reaching a total of 4 million cumulative players across the entire franchise.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of its flagship title, developer Nerial has added a massive amount of new content for free. This update introduces 190 new cards to the game, along with new objectives, unique ways to die, new characters, and hidden endings. Notably, the update features an original storyline centered around a new NPC, the 'Village Witch.' To witness the powerful witch's prophecies come to life, players must ironically survive for exactly 10 years in-game.

This 10th-anniversary update is available for free on both PC and mobile devices.
