Starting the 10th, Smilegate began an intensive recruitment drive across all job categories for its upcoming MMORPG, 'Lost Ark Mobile.' Among the 55 open positions, two are specifically focused on AI-based content design.

According to the Smilegate careers site, the recruitment covers all areas of development and service, including game design, development, graphics, QA, operations, business, and infrastructure. The application deadline is the 31st of this month.
A standout position is the 'AI Quest Content Designer.' The company lists the role's responsibilities as designing AI-based quests and content for Lost Ark Mobile, creating quest data and structuring flows, and designing dialogue and interactions that integrate with language models (LM).
The qualification requirement is at least five years of experience in game quest design, rather than AI development. Required competencies include proficiency in quest structure design and data creation, experience with branching quest design, the ability to write quest data and scripts in Excel, and an understanding of narrative structures and character dialogue design. Regarding AI, the posting simply states, "Candidates who have an interest in AI technology and have considered its application to quests."
Preferred qualifications include experience with Unreal engine and in-game cinematic storyboarding, as well as 'experience creating or using AI-based content platforms like Crack, Zeta, or GPTRPG.' Zeta is an AI character chat service operated by Scatter Lab, and Crack is operated by Wrtn Technologies. These platforms allow users to set up characters and worldviews, with language models then sustaining real-time conversations.
The remaining job postings cover standard development roles, including level, balance, scenario, system, and combat design; client and server development; character and background graphics; QA; and community operations. The localization team alone covers 10 languages, including English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), German, French, Thai, Indonesian, Brazilian Portuguese, and Latin American Spanish.
Lost Ark Mobile is the mobile version of the original Lost Ark, which Smilegate began developing in 2018. It has been developed with cross-play support for PC in mind. Following an online showcase and a closed beta test (CBT) last year, an official release date has yet to be announced.
