Take-Two Interactive has publicly commented on the pre-order performance of 'Grand Theft Auto VI' for the first time. During the company's Q1 fiscal year 2027 earnings call on the 7th (local time), Take-Two Interactive Chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that the volume of pre-orders is unprecedented. However, he did not disclose specific figures.

During the call, Zelnick remarked, "The level of pre-orders is unprecedented and remarkable, and we are very grateful." He added a caveat that because the scale is so unusual, it is difficult to predict how it will translate into actual sales. When asked about pricing strategy, he replied that consumer response has been positive for both the standard and premium editions.
The earnings report covers the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, which ended on June 30. Since 'GTA6' pre-orders began on June 25, the period included in the quarter was only five days. It remains unclear whether the pre-order volume mentioned by Zelnick refers to those five days or the total accumulated up to the time of the earnings announcement.
Net bookings for the first quarter were $1.39 billion (approximately KRW 1.97 trillion), slightly exceeding the upper end of the company's guidance, though this represents a 3% decrease compared to the same period last year. Net bookings is a gaming industry metric recorded at the time an order is placed, which differs from actual recognized revenue. Take-Two Interactive attributed the results to the 'NBA 2K' and 'GTA' series outperforming expectations. By franchise, 'NBA 2K' saw a 7% increase, while 'GTA' grew by 3%. The company maintained its annual net bookings forecast for fiscal year 2027 at $8 billion to $8.2 billion (approximately KRW 11.3 trillion to KRW 11.6 trillion).
'Grand Theft Auto VI' is set to launch on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders began on June 25, with the standard edition priced at $79.99 (approximately KRW 113k). Rockstar Games will release a feature-length video titled 'Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look' on Netflix at 4:00 AM KST on the 28th, followed by a release on its official YouTube Channel and the game's official website at 10:00 AM on the same day.
