The Games of the Future (GOTF) has confirmed that Ubisoft's Just Dance will return as a competitive discipline at its 2026 edition in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Just Dance will feature under the banner of 'Phygital Dancing', one of eight disciplines at this year's Games. The Games of the Future is an annual international event built around 'phygital' sport — a format that blends physical activity with video games, requiring competitors to perform in both the real world and the digital one.
The discipline is scheduled to run on August 6th and 7th at the Barys Arena, with the wider Games taking place from July 29th to August 9th. According to a release, dancers will compete for a prize pool of $75,000 (~£55,800).
The Phygital Dancing field is still taking shape ahead of the event. According to the release, Mokonanye Angelo, Franco Vitali, Dion Visser and Daniil Charapko have already secured direct qualification through their rankings at Phygital Rivals tournaments across the 2025/26 season.
A further four places were settled at Phygital Contenders 2026 Astana, held from June 10th to 14th. Andres Guardo won the event ahead of runner-up Sagdi, with Susan Huertas third and Sergio Mayta fourth — all four advancing to the Games. The final two spots are due to be confirmed in the coming weeks based on overall rankings.

First released in 2009, Just Dance is a music and rhythm franchise developed by Ubisoft, the French publisher behind franchises such as Assassin's Creed and Far Cry. According to the release, the game has engaged more than 80m players worldwide and racked up over 12.3bn views on YouTube.
Natalie Williams, Director of Export at Ubisoft, added: "We are delighted that Just Dance returns to the main stage at Games of the Future 2026. It consistently draws crowds at every event with its unbridled joy and energy, and it will be an exciting showcase of international dancers competing for the ultimate prize in a high-level sporting environment."
