The global theatrical release date for Nintendo's live-action 'The Legend of Zelda' movie has been set for April 30, 2027.
Nintendo Representative Director Shigeru Miyamoto announced through official channels that the release date for the live-action project has been moved up by one week from the original May 7, 2027, to April 30. "The team is working as one to bring this to you as soon as possible," Miyamoto said. "We have a little over a year left until the release, so please wait just a little longer."
This early confirmation of the release date suggests that production is proceeding smoothly. It was previously reported that filming for 'The Legend of Zelda' was completed in April.
Furthermore, another Nintendo IP film, 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie,' set a new milestone for video game adaptations by grossing over $1.3 billion (approximately ₩1.75 trillion) worldwide. Naturally, expectations for 'The Legend of Zelda' are rising in tandem.
A global media industry expert analyzed, "Moving up the release schedule specifically signals Nintendo's strong confidence in the film's production quality," adding, "The solid fandom of 'The Legend of Zelda,' which has surpassed 150 million units in cumulative global sales, will serve as a powerful driver for the film's box office success."
