NC announced today (the 12th) via its official social media channels and website that it has unveiled the key characters and world setting for 'Astrae Oratio,' a new subculture RPG developed by Dynamis One and published by NC.
'Astrae Oratio' is a new-style subculture RPG set in a fictional 1889 Tokyo where magic exists. According to the world setting released today, the game takes place at a time when Tokyo Tower has just been completed and the Odaiba International Exhibition Center is under construction for the upcoming Tokyo World Expo. The player, formerly a low-level local government official, is suddenly transferred to the Tokyo Special District Bureau, where they become entangled with mages living in hiding throughout the city.
The 'Special District Bureau' featured in the game is officially known as the Bureau for the Management of Special Zones Designated by the Spirit, which oversees the special zones established by the 'Spirit Cabinet,' the true power behind Tokyo's magical world. Located in Minato Ward—home to Tokyo Tower—the bureau handles all administrative matters related to the mages in Tokyo. In addition to the player's avatar, who is assigned to the bureau as a chief, the illustration and profile of the bureau chief, 'Hiwagishi Akari Ai,' were also released on the official website and social media.

The concept of 'Mage Territories' centered around Tokyo's 23 wards and the resulting conflicts were also mentioned. Mages claim the land they inhabit as their territory and use it as a base for their magic, which leads to clashes and disputes over these territories. It is expected that the game will explore, from various angles, the process of the player becoming involved in various incidents while mediating conflicts between these mages.
Alongside these reveals, NC released 4-panel comics and stamps, continuing its efforts to appeal to subculture fans by showcasing the game's characters and world. The company also announced that it will sequentially release further details on characters, the world setting, and promotional videos in the future.
More information about 'Astrae Oratio' can be found on the official website and social media channels.
