Lee Jae-dong defeated Lee Young-ho in the Group C Round of 16 match of the Google Play ASL Season 21, held at Freec Up Studio in Samseong-dong, Seoul, on the 20th. It was the first 'Lee-Ssang Rok' (the legendary rivalry between the two) in 2,756 days, and the performance delivered by both players lived up to the high expectations.

Confident that Lee Jae-dong had opted for a 12-hatchery opening, Lee Young-ho started off comfortably with a no-barracks double. Lee Jae-dong confirmed this with drone scouting and produced as few zerglings as possible to close the gap, but the momentum favored the Terran player. Lee Young-ho followed his no-barracks double by building two factories to prepare a mechanical build, then quickly added two armories to transition into an 'up-Terran' strategy.
Although Lee Jae-dong completed his spire, he chose to focus on expanding and drone production rather than immediately massing mutalisks, aiming for the late game. Lee Young-ho focused on defense, openly building a third command center. With science vessels on the field and 2/2 upgrades initiated at his armories, the Terran player held the advantage as time went on.
Lee Jae-dong prepared hydralisks from multiple hatcheries after a single group of mutalisks. He needed to inflict damage with his hydralisks at any cost; he managed to exhaust Lee Young-ho's goliath count and even forced the lift-off of the third command center. Having seized the momentum through a split-second timing attack, Lee Jae-dong resumed mutalisk production and succeeded in another war of attrition.
By constantly pressuring his opponent and denying him the time to assemble a 2/2 upgraded mechanical army, Lee Jae-dong emerged as the winner of the Lee-Ssang Rok for the first time in 2,756 days.
