Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME has released its next major update, adding Main Story Chapter 6, “Operation: Reclaim Christmas Eve,” along with a new limited-time ★5 character, Gen Narumi, dressed for the holidays.
The update, now live across all platforms, expands the Defense Force’s ongoing narrative with a Christmas-themed mission that blends festive duties and sudden threats. The chapter follows the First Division as they take part in an annual gift-giving event for children — a longstanding tradition within the organization. This year, members from several divisions join the effort, including Captain Gen Narumi, who appears in a Santa outfit, and Kafka, who takes on reindeer duties.
The cheerful outing is interrupted when a Dimensional Gate emerges along Tokyo Bay. As the First Division engages the threat, the Third Division arrives under the leadership of Akari Minase to support the mission. Meanwhile, Kikoru confronts memories of a difficult Christmas from her past, adding emotional weight to the unfolding operation.
New ★5 Gen Narumi Joins the Battle!
To accompany the story update, a celebration event is now underway in-game. Players can earn up to 1,500 Dimensional Crystals by progressing through Chapter 6 and participating in Score Battles. A login campaign beginning Dec. 1 (JST) will also distribute up to 10 Pickup Gacha Tickets during the promotional period.
The update also introduces the new ★5 character, [Japan’s Strongest Santa] Gen Narumi, whose trailer is available on the game’s official YouTube channel. The character features a holiday-themed design tied to the Defense Force’s public outreach activities. According to the in-game description, Narumi claims his participation is intended to boost his popularity among children, though the update hints that his motivations may run deeper.
Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME is based on Naoya Matsumoto’s bestselling manga and its globally popular anime adaptation. The title is co-produced by Akatsuki Games, TOHO, and Production I.G, and is available on the App Store, Google Play, and Steam as a free-to-play release with optional in-app purchases.
