D-ZARD’s Anime-Style Battle Royale ASURAJANG Shuts Down October 9 After Struggling Player Numbers

Following the recent mass resignation of the entire Princess Maker development team at D-ZARD, the studio’s other title, ASURAJANG, will end service on October 9.

D-ZARD posted a shutdown notice today (October 2) on the ASURAJANG Steam page. ASURAJANG is a quarter-view (isometric), anime-style 33-player battle royale built around chaining combos by mixing normal and special attacks, dodge-into-counter moves, and other varied skills, with a strong “crunchy” feel and flashy K.O. finishes as its calling cards. After its official launch on March 27, the team pushed multiple patches in hopes of lifting player numbers; however, the update notes stopped after August 28, signaling mounting difficulties. The studio has now decided to terminate service on October 9.

According to D-ZARD, “Due to poor commercial performance and accumulating losses, we’ve reached the regrettable point where most of the developers who devoted the last three years to ASURAJANG have had to leave the company,” adding that stable operations are no longer feasible, leading to the decision to shut the game down.

Meanwhile, D-ZARD’s other project, Princess Maker: Children of Revelation, is being transferred to another company under the leadership of Producer Son Seok-ho, who took charge of the project after the development team’s departure.

ASURAJANG’s service will end on October 9, and its community and social channels will be closed the same day. In addition, payments and new account registration have been suspended as of October 2. Further details are available on the game’s Steam page.
