Arcane wins Emmy for outstanding animated program

Arcane, the animation that was made based on the League of Legends world, has been awarded the Outstanding Animated Program at the 2022 Emmy Awards. Arcane is an animation series that covers the story of Jinx and Vi. The French animation studio, Fortiche, produced the animation under the supervision of Riot Games.

The series was first introduced on Nov. 7, 2021, on Netflix. Within one week, Arcane hit No.1 on the top 10 charts of 52 countries. Three episodes were revealed per week for three weeks, and shortly after the final episode aired, they announced season 2 of Arcane will be made.

In the ANNIE Award in early 2022, Arcane was awarded in nine categories, including Best TV/Media for mature audiences. At the Emmy Awards, Arcane was nominated in five categories and won four of them. They won the Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program category. Three awards were for individuals for the production: Color Script Artist Anne-Laure To, Art Director Julien Georgel, and Background Designer Bruno Couchinho each won an award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation.

As there are many categories to be awarded for the Emmys, most of the categories are awarded in advance. The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on Sep. 12.
