After a wild five-game series, Team Liquid have defeated Evil Geniuses in the first round of the 2022 LCS Spring Playoffs. TL will move onto the second round of the post-season upper bracket to face 100 Thieves, who swept Cloud9 yesterday, while EG will face FlyQuest next in the lower bracket.

Before the start of the 2022 LCS Spring Playoffs, the general consensus was that the series between C9 and 100 Thieves would be far more contentious than Team Liquid's match against Evil Geniuses. However, C9 found themselves stumped against the defending LCS champion, and 100 Thieves heisted their series in a sweep.

EG, on the other hand was expected to, at best, take a game off of 1st seed Team Liquid due to EG's 9-9 finish in the LCS Spring Split and securing of 4th place solely by the way of tiebreakers before the start of the Spring Playoffs.  Despite, this EG was confident about their best-of-five form.

In an interview with Inven Global a few days before the start of the 2022 LCS Spring Playoffs, Evil Geniuses jungler Kacper "Inspired" Słoma expressed displeasure for best-of-one matchess and confidence in his team's best-of-five potential.

"I don't think it's that fun to play and I don't think you learn a lot from it, so I think we will be able to pull out some different picks from game-to-game in a best-of-five series," said Inspired. "If we lose with a certain composition, we can just change everything around and play something completely different, so this is a big plus for us, for sure."

EG stayed true to the words, forcing a game 5 against Team Liquid after an innovative flex draft won them the fourth game of the series down 2-1, but ultimately fell short against the veterancy of the TL squad.
