Rekkles to reportedly leave G2 Esports

G2 Esports bot laner Martin "Rekkles" Larsson will likely leave the team in the upcoming off-season, Dot Esports' Pablo Suarez reports. According to Suarez, G2 is in the process of selling Rekkles' contract, which was originally penned until November 2023. The relationship between player and org is reportedly strained after the failure of a Summer Split that left G2 out of Worlds.

The news comes after reports of the team being in contract buyout talks with multiple LEC teams for top laner Martin "Wunder" Hansen, support Mihael "Mikyx" Mehle, and head coach Fabian "GrabbZ" Lohmann, marking a major restructure of the legacy franchise.

G2 Esports' reported roster changes should not be their last

G2 Esports were expected to make changes after missing the League of Legends World Championship for the first time in the organization’s history since joining the league in 2016. Dot Esports further reported that G2 are holding extensive ADC tryouts with several European bot laners but haven't decided on a replacement for Rekkles just yet.

According to Suarez's report, Team Vitality — who have shown interest for Wunder, Mikyx, and GrabbZ — have also expressed interest in potentially buying out Rekkles’ contract but G2 aren't open to negotiating with that org at this time.
