As Top Esports lost to LNG Esports, they have failed to reach the 2021 World Championship. On the 14th, Top Esports lost to LNG Esports 1-3 in the second round of the playoffs. With the loss, Top Esports scored 40 championship points, which is insufficient to compete in the Regional Qualifiers for the LPL.

Top Esports was the last surviving team among the LPL teams that participated in Worlds 2020. JD Gaming, Suning, and LGD Gaming had all fallen short of the chance to play on the stage of dreams. JD Gaming and LGD Gaming failed to reach the playoffs while Suning lost in the first round.

Top Esports jungler Hung “Karsa” Hao-Hsuan and bot laner Yu “JackeyLove” Wen-bo both had been participating in all World Championships since their debut. Karsa had been to 6 consecutive Worlds while JackeyLove had been to 3. As Top Esports failed to reach Worlds, they will be sitting out for the first time in their careers.

The remaining LPL teams are FunPlus Phoenix, EDward Gaming, Royal Never Give Up, LNG Gaming, Rare Atom, Bilibili Gaming, and Team WE. Four teams among the remaining teams will be heading to Worlds 2021.
