French League of Legends team Karmine Corp has signed a new top laner. Lucas "Cabochard" Simon-Meslet has joined Karmine Corp, which marks his return to competitive play after going unsigned in the first half of 2021.

Cabochard's signing with Karmine Corp was first reported earlier this month, and was confirmed today by the organization in a tweet. The signing comes after Karmine Corp top laner Adam "Adam" Maanane was bought out by Fnatic due to Gabriël "Bwipo" Rau's roleswap to jungle.

Karmine Corp may not be in the League of Legends European Championship, but the team is the reigning EU Masters champion and has gained continental acclaim for their performance throughout the season in La Ligue Française de League of Legends.

After spending four days as a substitute for Gambit Gaming in June 2014, Cabochard made his proper debut in the 2015 EU League of Legends Championship Series Spring Split as the starting top laner for Gambit. For the next five years of Cabochard's career, the french top laner would become the franchise face of french organization Team Vitality, who acquired Gambit Gaming's EU LCS spot after 2015.

This spring was the first split in which Cabochard did not compete since the start of his career. In joining Karmine Corp, the french top laner will be playing for the third team in his career, the second french organization of his career, but the first organization outside of a major region since his debut for Gambit Gaming.

Alongside Bora "YellOwStaR" Kim, Paul "sOAZ" Boyer, and Steven "Hans Sama" Liv, Cabochard is one of the top talents ever produced by the French competitive scene. Whether he is eyeing a return to the LEC is currently unknown, but if so, starting for the best European Regional League team in the circuit would be a great first step in that direction.
