Esports organization FunPlus Phoenix has unveiled its rebrand to FPX Esports. The org made its rebrand public via Twitter on December 28, 2020 with a short digital cinematic showing a phoenix sweeping across the screen to reveal the new FPX Esports logo. This time around, the phoenix logo has disappeared with the flames, and in its place is a sleek, scarlet stylization of the organization's acronym across a black and grey background.

FPX Esports was founded in 2017 but gained global acclaim when its League of Legends Pro League squad won the 2019 World Championship. FPX failed to qualify for Worlds 2020 and missed out on a chance to defend its title. The Summoner's Cup has since returned to South Korea courtesy of DAMWON Gaming, and in the off-season, DAMWON and FPX swapped top laners.

Jang "Nuguri" Ha-gwon has joined FPX for the 2021 LPL season, and Kim "Khan" Dong-ha returned to his home country of South Korea. DAMWON is currently slated to face Nongshim RedForce (formerly Team Dynamics) in the finals of the 2020 KeSPA Cup, which was Khan's debut for the team.

FPX isn't just competing in League of Legends. The organization fields talent in many other esports, most notably competing in Riot Games' tactical shooter VALORANT, which was released in June 2020, as well as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. While FPX's flagship League of Legends team is located in China and is entirely comprised of Chinese and South Korean players, many of FPX's other signings are based in Europe.

As FPX Esports stated in its announcement, the rebrand will apply to all teams and players under the organization's umbrella regardless of the game they play or the region in which they are competing.
